Energy- The New Frontier in Psychology |
| In traditional counseling and psychotherapy, a presenting problem is treated and (ideally) resolved to the satisfaction of the client or patient. So too in Energy Psychology, the exciting new domain in the practice of psychology. What's so different about an ENERGY PSYCHOLOGY approach to emotional problems? In Energy Psychology, the problem is assessed, diagnosed, and treated as an ENERGY-BASED PROBLEM. In his Energy Psychology Interactive CD training program, Dr. David Feinstein (2001) describes it this way: "Like the Oriental medicine traditions to which it traces, the theoretical core of energy psychology is simply this: |
| "Whatever the presenting problem, it has a counterpart in the client's energy system and can be treated at that level." |
| The energy psychology practitioner will check the client's energy system for disturbance in energy flow or balance (assessment), identify the energy component of the client's problem (diagnosis), and then treat the energy disturbance with specific energy-based techniques. Energy Psychology treatments integrate handily with other counseling and psychotherapy approaches. In effect, Energy Psychology interventions add to the power and depth of traditional treatments by correcting the energy disturbance underlying the client's emotional disturbance. As a result, the presenting problem usually resolves at a deep and complete level. |

the client's energy field - David Grudermeyer, PhD |
| To learn more about Energy Psychology, you can visit the Website of the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology (ACEP). The founders of ACEP created the organization to promote the understanding and credibility of Energy Psychology among health/mental health professionals and to encourage research on energy-based approaches to treatment of psychological problems. ACEP's Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for practitioners provide a model for excellence in clinical care. There are many innovative and clinically proven Energy Psychology approaches and techniques. Following is an introduction to several of the best known and most practiced approaches in the Energy Psychology field. Although I use and value many additional energy-based techniques, these four are the treatment modalities I use most frequently, both personally and professionally: The Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT), BE SET FREE FAST (BSFF), and Seemorg Matrix Work. For each approach, the Website address is provided for your easy access to further information and related resources. For an easy-to-read introduction to Energy Psychology and fully illustrated instruction in the Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Feeling Free! A Guide to the Energetics of Self-Care is the book for you! |
